Our verdict
Zapier
The easiest way to connect your apps — still the best for most businesses

Zapier connects 6,000+ apps without code. The interface is the most intuitive in automation. The free plan covers basic use cases. If you're paying $20+/month and running into task limits regularly, evaluate Make — it's cheaper at volume. But for most small businesses, Zapier free or Starter is all you need.

What works
  • 6,000+ app integrations — largest library
  • Easiest automation builder to learn
  • Free plan is genuinely useful
  • Error notifications and auto-replay on Professional
  • Huge community with pre-built Zap templates
What doesn't
  • Tasks add up faster than expected
  • Expensive at volume compared to Make
  • Complex logic (loops, iterators) is awkward
  • 15-min update delay on free plan

What Zapier does

Zapier connects apps so they talk to each other automatically. When something happens in App A (a trigger), Zapier does something in App B (an action). Examples: when a new form is submitted, add a row to Google Sheets and send a Slack notification; when a new deal is added to your CRM, create a task in ClickUp; when you get a new email with an attachment, save it to Dropbox.

The library of 6,000+ integrations means Zapier can connect almost any two tools your business uses. This is its key advantage over competitors — breadth of integrations.

When to consider Make instead

Make (formerly Integromat) is significantly cheaper at volume and supports more complex logic. If you're running high-volume automations, building complex multi-path workflows, or paying more than $49/month on Zapier, Make is worth evaluating. The learning curve is steeper but the per-task cost is lower.
